It's your money, you can do what you like with it!

    Lin ;)
You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset. ;)

In very simple words, and for the last time:

A mother can give money to her daughter without it affecting the daughter's benefit entitlement.

This is my experience. As a mother on benefits when my marriage ended, my mum paid my legal bills directly and made up the shortfall on a house for me when the marital home was eventually sold and proceeds divided between my ex and I. It was all done above board and with the full knowledge of the benefits people. They did ask for various bits of paper along the way but my benefits were never stopped or reduced. My mum will sometimes still pay for things for my children and does so either by paying at the till for stuff when we are out shopping together, by buying me a gift card for the shop concerned or by giving me cash. She has never, however, paid a regular sum of money into my bank accounts and it is this that causes problems for people.
