Actually, I've found a very good correlation between my speedo, my sat-nav and the automatic speed signs you see along the roads (my kids laughed at the smiley ones when we went to Kingston a couple of weeks back!).

If you stick to the 30 limit you are in a tiny minority and will have a queue of cars behind you. Are you being inconsiderate?.
I'm not defending the op. I'm stating there is no obligation, legal or otherwise, to drive at the speed limit.

Have you considered your insistance that others drive at the maximum allowable speed might be inconsiderate?.

How can you be inconsiderate following the speed limit? Overtaking a hearse perhaps? Any others that spring to mind?

I come across loads of folks running at around 63/64 on the motorways, and I'm sure they think they are doing 70mph and all the rest of us are speedsters who should drive slower.

How did you establish that they think they are doing 70mph?

Inconsiderate to who? People who want to break the speed limit? Did you even read the link, or are you just arguing the toss because you feel like it, in much the same way that OP drives *under* the limit because they feel like it...?

You either didn't read the link, or you ignored the information in it. OP is driving with out due care and attention. Which is an offence. You are apparently being a bell end. I don't break the law by speeding. Neither do I inconvenience other drivers by driving much slower than conditions allow. You can bleat all you like about this. Driving so slowly that you slow up other drivers is not what competent drivers do. Perhaps you should join OP in those extra lessons...

I haven't said following the speed limit is inconsiderate.

Does she not realise that unless she is overtaking, that she could be committing an offence? Middle lane hogging now comes under driving without due care and attention. But that aside, it is plain stupid and irresponsible.

I'm afraid Mother Dee lives life by her own rules and explaining otherwise to her often results in a small argument. I know that she's committing an offence, you know this, almost every other road user knows this...she probably knows this. I think she just lacks the awareness, which is a terrifying thought when everybody else is travelling at 70mph...

I try and politely nudge her into the left hand lane but this usually makes her speed up anyway. As I said, I just think she gets into a "cruising" mind and slows down a bit.

5 mph below the 30 mph speed limit. 10-15 mph on roundabouts and a minimum 55 mph on motorways. Are you aware of any prosecutions for driving like this?. If so please share this information.

This, unnecessarily slow driving or braking, Does not state drivers are obliged to drive at the speed limit!.

It's not drive without due care, it's inconsiderate driving.

My own opinion is that it can be just as dangerous sometimes to drive slowly. My particular angst is drivers joining a motorway on a slip on at 50 or 60 mph. You are joining a motorway where traffic is at 70. You should be matching the speed of the vehicles you are joining and it can be dangerous to be so slow. If there is no one around to annoy then fill your boots, but you can fail your driving test for not keeping up with the flow of traffic, so bear this in mind.
