Why? Why make all of those HGvs have to overtake you at 1mph on the motorway?
Why not drive more considerately?0 -

seriously though, it's things like the rate of change from 50-70 and the other way around,
I'd have to support this point! I've always had cheap cars and the first few were _very_ cheap, even though I was a late starter as a driver although I still able to overtake in them.. At work though, trips to our offices and HO had to be made in pool cars. Let me just say that the Maestros with the Perkins diesels were very economical, but I still remember the embarassment of trying to overtake a tractor once and having to tuck back in.... It was a relief to get the Peugeot309 diesels as they had a bit of poke about them.
What may seem like a decent overtaking place might not be for some, but I always leave space between me and the vehicle in front. I'm not impressed if some queue jumper makes me brake sharply though.0 -

Breaking the speed limit then ?0 -

In my experience as soon as the HGV starts to overtake Mr or Mrs 50/55 decides to speed up and leaves the lorry stuck in the overtaking lane not 100% sure if it is clear to pull back in or not.0 -
OP, please consider this. You've said you drive below the speed limit as you feel safer and better able to take in everything and stay relaxed.
If you ever took some advanced driving lessons then one of the first things you would be taught is to extend your observations. Looking as far forward as possible. You may not believe this but it is this extended view that makes driving safer, by giving you the time to plan and react earlier to what you see.
To any driver doing this naturally or following training then they will likely find following you quite frustrating. Especially when you consider that many speed limits have been reduced well below what the view would indicate is safe. Someone reducing those speed limits by another 5-10mph will almost certainly be considered a poor driver by someone forced to follow.
I would advise you to consider some advanced training, it may help you see driving in a completely different light.0 -
Yesterday I was stuck behind some muppet doing 40mph on a 60 NSL, but then when we got to a 50 limit dual carriageway, he zoomed off at over 60........“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

OP - that's fine. Where do you work and I'll come in and relax and slow your day down for you sometime?Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?0
