Why do you need a new meter anyway?

When the gas mains were renewed in my street, they couldn't get a new plastic pipe to my meter cupboard - it just kept getting stuck.

So they put a new meter box on the front of the house, and moved the existing gas meter into that. I didn't even have to contact my gas supplier.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

What do you call this then:
    20130915-164145.jpgLandis+Gyr G370 Gas Meter
Compliance with defined objects for SMETS1 with OTA for SMETS2*

it's an E6 meter, a smart meter (for electric) will show you the cost & usage for a certain item eg lights, kettle, fridge etc, the gas meter above will show you more info than an U6 meter (with dials) but it's not a smart meter
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

This is a gas smart meter, just like the one Eon put in my house two years ago.

See that black wire coming out the right? It's connected to the electricity meter, and sends the gas meter readings to the electricity meter, which sends it to the energy supplier. You can also see your instantaneous gas usage on your in home display.

Problem with smart meters of any kind is who are the working FOR????

In my circumstance (to change the playing field), any water meter would be a dumb, not smart meter.:mad::mad::cool::cool:;);)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Yes that is what I said. It is a 'smart' gas meter.;)

A someone who checked meter readings regularly anyway, I personally did not perceive any benefits from the smart meter installation. However, I do believe it would help someone who was less vigilant avoid running up big bills.
