Sun Screen Protection in 2014

I just wondered if anyone knows what the current best sun screen is. It seems that we are all being told (sensibly) to protect our skins yet there's little guidance. I seem to recall the last time Which magazine did any sort of comparison was 2009 where Asda's own took the prize.
Even when you Google the question it seems to concentrate more on the beauty side and little on the actual protection these screens offer. We use Reimanns P20 because it says its an all day protection even after venturing in and out of the water. I'm sure many others will have their own preferences but's not really what I'm trying to establish. Truthfully we don't know what is the best protection (not as a beauty product) out there.......

If youcan lie down at night knowing in your heart that you just made someone’s day just a little bit better, you know you had a good day!!

Which just announced their "avoid" list (http://press.which.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/suncream_R2f.pdf) granted not much in the way of "get these ones" but it explains their thinking behind the decision.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0

Any high factor broad spectrum sunscreen will work providing you apply enough of it and often enough
I tend to use Sun Sense factor 50 most year round - really not bothered about getting a tan, would rather be pasty and make my skin last hopefully as long as the rest of me0 -
I used Calypso Once a Day last year and found it great for all my family.0

We have just come back from Peru (strong sun and high altitude) and used Lacura SPF30 spray. It's either Aldi or Lidl, can't remember exactly.
Cheap as chips (£2.99-ish) and we did not burn or even go red, so I would use it again.0 -
I like the one a day ones for the children much easier battling once than 5-6 times
I like the piz buin one, doesn't seem to stain as much as p20 although I do find that one great too (except the yellow marks on everything).
Look for UVA and UVB filters. I do like to get a bit of a tan so won't use factor 50 for myself but minimum 20 and 30 for bits prone to burning (in my case d!collet! and top of back).Bossymoo

Price does not seem to so much of a factor in determining which cream may be best. It seems to be more than you need to use sufficient and apply often enough.
Personally, I like Piz Buin or Ambre Solaire which are generally around a fiver at Home Bargains. I am not a fan of the once a day suncreams. They give a false sense of security which may not be there following swimming, towelling and let's not forget sweating!0 -

We use Ultra Sun. Expensive but worth it. Once a day ( but re-apply if you have been in the pool a long time. I used to get terrible prickly heat until I used this. You can get it in M and S and online.0 -

Another vote for Ultrasun here. We used it for the first time last year and it was brilliant. Also it doesn't have some of the 'nasty' chemicals that can induce an allergic reaction!

Perhaps not the best but all Nivea sun cream is on offer at Wilkos for £2 a bottle until tomorrow. I picked up a few factor 50s that will keep me going until I can buy some in the US.0
