Short changed by bank?

Those machines can be inaccurate, I used to work in a bank and they were used as a secondary check to actual counting. They should always count the money by hand to check for things such as forgeries, damaged notes and that a £10 didn't get slipped into the £20 bundle by mistake. It is poor service that they didn't count out the money to you
I don't think its bad service in a busy bank to not count money out note by note, because as mentioned, you don't want everyone in the que knowing you are walking out with large amounts.
If I were the OP now, I would contact the bank whenever convenient and just ask if there was a discrepancy with cash balancing. They would have tried there hardest to find it no doubt but it isn't always easy, and rely on the customer to contact them
The branch would probably put in stricter measures like not handing out money in envelopes next time.0 -
I will leave in my freudian "blank" instead of bank as it amused me.... bankety bank0
