Hi all
To explain, yesterday my son won the scottish region inspiring learner award given by learndirect. As a result he has to attend the National awards ceremony in London on the 11th of June.
Now here's where I'm stuck - he is taking my 79 year old dad with him as his plus 1, learndirect are paying travel expenses so that's not a problem, they will be getting in to Euston Station. As they're travelling from Scotland and bearing in mind my dad is going they are going to have to leave on the Tuesday morning and back Thursday lunchtime as any less time would either be too long for my dad or they would be late for the awards doo which is at The Roof Gardens, 99 Kensington High Street, London, W8 5SA
So (and sorry for the long winded speil) my question is where is the best area for them to stay? Ive been looking at hotels but having no clue of London I'd probably end up booking a place miles away from the back end o beyond. Also the prices of places suitable for a 79 year old man ie not hostels are a tad high? yes i know its the capital but gee swizz.
Will prices get cheaper the closer to the date or am i better booking something now? Argh!
Again sorry for the mini novel there i'm just at a loss what to do for the best. Thanks in advance for any help.

You could stay anywhere in london, as the underground station you need is on the circle line and all other lines feed into that.
What is your budget, as that would dictate where you stay really.
Cheapest TLs ive found are around wembley or kew for £60-£70pn0 -
Just looking at google maps theres the Royal garden hotel, best western hotel, these 2 are near the roof gardens and the tube stop, there are other hotels though that are cheaper, is there a budget ? Im guessing not too expensive ?
Cant answer the question about whether to book now or wait.0 -

Its london, prices always go up nearer the date. TL do cheap rates until 21 days before arrival, so you have even missed that (prob why most are coming up at £100+)
I would t risk leaving it any longer tbh0 -

Prices are unlikely to get cheaper nearer the date, as London is always popular and to get the best rates it is usually better to book in advance. There are two Premier Inns in Kensington so maybe look at those.0

Thanks everyone, no budget ain't that great, was hoping for around £100 a night tops, but the reviews i'm reading for even that price range are pretty grim xx0

Ibis Shepherds Bush is coming up at £104 per night, it's only a short tube ride from Kensington and easy from Euston too.

That's probabaly a good deal. ON the other thread there are links to places that look cheaper but are probably a bit more hostel-like and maybe not so suitable. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Travelzoo had an offer on at the Copthorne Tara- may be worth checking that out as it's the right location for you and they were £79 I think.
It's a slightly dated but perfectly decent 4* by the way.
Otherwise try a quick search on trivago or similar comparison site.
Ideally you would want to stay around Kensington I'd say, but look at the tube map and you could easily stay within a few tube stops to broaden your search. There are a lot of hotels arouund there, so you'll be able to get one for around your budget I'd think.0
