Wide open for what ? Are you suggesting that MET will issue a claim ? You are offering very poor advice on this, a cheque can be cancelled through the bank, a letter to MET advising them that you believe the cheque has been lost is sufficient as it will actually cost nothing for them!

How many times has cheques been sent to these companies then cancelled before being presented? On here over the years I would say hundreds maybe more, how many claims issued over it? I would say a fat zero! You need to get a reality cheque on these companies, very few issue claims, and even those that do only a minute percentage goes to a court.

And MET has issued 2 small claims in the last 18 months only

"only a minute percentage goes to a court" fair enough, I'll take your word on that, you've posted longer than me, if PPC's don't do court, you must know. Cancel the cheque tomorrow is the advice.

The fact that, despite your claims of a knowledge of contract law, you claim that them persuing an amount that you hadn't accurately paid nor had been cashed makes them a 'vexatious litigant' yet your subsequent claim for 1p is fine speaks for itself.
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

Interesting concept, I'm always up for "testing" the system.

Why not? You wouldn't say it if they did?

I wouldn't say it is a stupid idea, after all it was a brave man who first tried an oyster!
If my idea doesn't work first time then it would be stupid to try it again!

I also don't recommend trying it until everything has settled down.
    I'll keep you guys updated.

I'm struggling as to what you hope to achieve ? Let's just for a moment assume your ploy works and the cheque isn't cashed ( I assume this is your aim ? ). Are you really suggesting that advice should change to "send a cheque for a penny more and you'll be OK" ?

Experiments are meant to have a purpose - what is the purpose here ? Other than of course risking MET actually holding onto £50.01 of your money they are not entitled to.

Strange and daft don't do your idea justice.

What you mean to say I would lie over this? These figures are from the Ministry of justice, I back my claims up with verifiable facts! In terms of PE on this though the figures are incorrect and it's awaiting an internal review.

????? I said the exact opposite, if you read what I wrote, I said you didn't need to prove it, I actually did take your word for it, you post on here enough to be respected. But then for interest, I did actually click on the links you provided, and edited my post to ask why they looked wrong? If the are wrong , ok. If you know they're wrong I have to say I'm puzzled as to why you're now attacking me and stating I've called you a liar, if you know you're quoting incorrect figures which I then simply spotted as incorrect as well? If they are known to be incorrect, I personally now wouldn't rely on any on the figures in there, without further verification.

Quite a lot of replies here have gone completely off the thread's topic with squabbling to boot!

Come on now people, let's keep to the subject!
I don't mind being flame grilled about this idea, frankly it's to be expected and I can retort objectively.
    Thanks.
