Switched from BT, Bill advice.

My BT contract ended back in February (18 month contract I think). The service kept running and I kept paying them £43.66 per month for infinity and line rental.

I requested to cancel my service and switch to plusnet, the switch hast just gone through, this is where my problem lies.

I received a BT bill on the 8th of May which says it covers the period of 6th May - 5th June and its a bill of £43.66. Now my plusnet service went live on the 16th May, so from the 16th of may plusnet have been providing me with my broadband service not BT.

I have already paid a month upfront with plusnet so I'm very reluctant to pay BT for a full month when they in fact only provided my service from the 6th may - 16th may.

Am I correct in thinking I just owe them part payment ? The last time I spoke to BT live chat they informed me I needed to pay that £43.66 bill and I would then get a final bill !

What do I do next ? I've just had a bill reminder for not paying it, but I don't want to incur any charges, I just don't see why I should pay BT a full month for 10 days service.

You pay the bill, which is correct as it was issued in advance before the switch. You'll then get a refund for the unused portion of the month.

Your contract didn't end in Feb. The minimum term did. The contract then continues until you give notice, normally 15 or 30 days. How much notice did you give?
As above, line rental and broadband charges are billed in advance, and any credit due applied after the switch date.
