PC World - not fit for purpose

I purchased a printer from PC World in July of 2013. At the time I spent around £1550 on a few items to start up my new business. Part of my business plan was to start printing onto greeting cards but this was to be in the pipeline once the business was up and running.
I took advice from the experts in PC world on what printer I would need to do all the jobs i required, including printing onto greeting cards.
I am now at the stage of doing personalised cards and when I went to try and print onto my cards - the printer will not print to that paper format.
I have been trying to speak with PC world for the last 4 weeks now and have managed to speak to some one twice - the first lady told me that I have no rights and I should have found out the problem within the first few weeks and then put the phone down on me and the second time i managed to get someone to speak to me, he said the same thing!!
Please can someone give me some advice, I spent a lot of money on this item and my business is relying on me getting these cards out... All i actually want is an exchange for a printer that does the job?!?
Thank you in advance.

You could argue misselling but its proving that they said 'yes this will print onto a greetings card'
You have no automatic right to return anything, unless faulty or 'missold' and obviously its not faulty and you have no proof of misselling (especially so long after the fact, its nearly a year)
Sorry but theres really no legal redress. Can you sell the printer and buy another? I dont want to be cruel but really you should have done your own independent research if this was going to be your business, rather than relying on a PCWorld assistant who probably isnt an expert in greetings card printers.0 -
There are three problems you'll have to deal with:
- You bought as a business so full consumer rights may not apply.
- You have no proof of the conversation you had.
- You've left it nearly a year. As such under normal consumer protection rules you've lost the right to reject it.
I'm sure you were mis-sold the product, and sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but realistically after this length of time there is nothing you can do about it.0 -
What is the card it won't print on?
Whats the actual issue? Why won't it print on it?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Thank you for your quick reply and in all fairness, I completely agree with you - It was a stupid mistake on my behalf. I thought that would be the feedback I would get, but I guess I had to double check.
Thank you again.0 -
Now you are in this position, a better question might be "how can I get printer [make/model] to print in the format I need for greeting cards"?
Ask that question on the Techie Stuff board.0 -

The only expertise that you find in PC World is talking !!!!!!!!e to customers (victims)
If you pay peanuts you will get monkeys0 -
Not sure about that. I don't often buy stuff there as it's usually cheaper elsewhere, but when I have (special offers, need it now, etc) I've always ended up with techies who know what they're talking about.
I think the OP should give up on getting any refund and follow Wealdroam's advice.0
