Guardian (or at least those it quotes) don't seem to be up to speed with how best to tackle private parking tickets....or certainly a bit mixed up!

Very poor advice in both the article and the comments.0

That's a shame as they have had several decent articles in the Guardian on PPC PCNs e.g. http://www.theguardian.com/money/2013/apr/18/how-challenge-parking-ticket0

Very poor advice indeed from Barrie Segal, very disappointed that he advised ignore! Could it be that this comment is actually lifted from a pre October 2012 article???We asked parking ticket guru Barrie Segal who runs the parking fightback website, Appealnow.com, and his advice was to throw it in the bin and not to even bother appealing. When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

Barrie Segal still advocates ignoring. This is not sensible IMHO especially as VCS do court.0

Actually his website is at least a year out of date, some of it goes back to 2006, so the advice by him should not be taken on board because of the outdated website. When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.

I liked the suggestion that the motorist writes to VCS demanding £10 from them otherwise he would go to POPLA and cost them an additional £17.
Nice twist. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
