I think by the sounds of things you may have been hijacked.
There are ways to recover but you need another pc nearby so you can download the tools, burn them to cd, then run them on your pc etc etc
If you've backed up your date and you dont mind formatting (deleting EVERYTHING and starting again), its not the hardest thing in the world to do.
Its pretty much "next next next next" type thing. if you by any chance have a Dell, they have their own recovery cd which makes it easy to go back to square 1. If not, all you do is insert the windows cd, turn thec omputer off and on, press a key to boot from cd when it asks, then you need to delete the current c: drive, and install vista to the "Unpartioned Space" which would be where the c drive was.
This will then be formatted (using NTFS) and start installing Vista. From there its a matter of selecting the correct language, correct date and time etc when it asks for it
Once its finished, you'll need to download
1) Anti Virus
2) Mozilla Firefox as it's a much more secure web browser than internet explorer
3) Any other applications that ya fancy
Hope that helps. Google windows vista format tutorial for any more information
If you decide to do it and get a problem you can text me for help. I can PM ya me number. [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."
