Complaining to Housing Association re their tenant

Hello - I'm hoping that this is posted in the right place - apologies if not.
I feel too tired to go in to the full and long story, but I want to complain to the Housing Association about my next door neighbours. But I'd rather they didn't know it was us - is it possible for the Housing Association to keep our names confidential as I don't think it will help matters to divulge who the complainants are to our neighbours.
(Oh and it isn’t because they are Housing Association tenants, I’m not a snob, it is because if we don’t sort this now, my husband and I will go bonkers and it is the only way I think they will listen and take notice – as they don’t seem to listen to us).

I think you can ask them not to reveal who you are but the HA will be more limited in what they can do I'd have thought.
Have you been keeping a diary or some log of what's been going on?
Without proper evidence I'd have thought they could only warn them that there had been a complaint and advise you on what to do in future (as in record details etc). Would it be obvious it was you anyway, or have they upset a lot of neighbours?
A relative made a complaint about their neighbour (both tenants of the same HA) and they did not reveal who had complained but relayed the complaint to them in such a way that it was obvious!0 -
Yeah, since I posted this (was very hacked off this morning), I've been giving it some more thought and I'm going to go around to our neighbours and speak to them again and tell them that we really don't want to go the HA, but may have to if forced. I'm hoping that they will finally get the message that things are unacceptable.
Thanks.0 -
You can complain and your name will NOT be given. You dont say what the problem is ? If it is noise the HA will send a letter out warning that a complaint has been made. If you are brave enough to tackle them and still dont get anywhere then its best to inform the HA otherwise, if you dont tell them your problems they cant act. Most are very helpfull with anti-social behaviour nowadays.0

Hi
HA's take anti-social behaviour very seriously since they are failing in their duty as landlords if it is not tackled. However, you will need to keep a diary because this will be required as evidence when the behaviour is challenged.
You can also ask for mediation, an objective mediator could help you and your neighbour to resolve any issues needing addressing. However, your neighbour would need to co-operate and be willing to meet with you and the mediator.SSB0 -
Well, you might think this is odd and perhaps even wimpy, but I've drafted my neighbour a letter. I know that if I went around to hers and spoke to her face to face I wouldn't be quite so honest and get everything out in the open and she would end up waffling and I wouldn't really say what I want to say. I've emailed it to my husband for him to look at it and then will drop it around this evening. I just want to be happy and content in my own home.0

Do you know which housing association they rent through? Most HA have an email address to contact them on for nuisance neighbours... Might be worth going down this route if things don't improve. I lived in a street where 1/3 were rented to housing association tenants. Everyone was really nice, except for 1 household who caused chaos for the whole street, and the police were frequently called! most were too afraid to go round to ask them to keep the noise down!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Thanks, I feel a lot better about stuff now. It is amazing how better you can feel when you share your woes....0

My neighbour has been keeping me awake with loud music in the early hours of the morning. I have approached him politely and asked him to turn it down with mixed results. I want to ask the housing association that owns his house to write to him but how do i find out which association owns it? There seem to be loads of seperate associations and I need to know which one it is.
Thanks for your help.0 -
How do people even know who owns a neighbours house? I wouldn't have a clue if my neighbours are owners or tenants.A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0

Hi
I work for our local HA and the only way to find out if a property is theirs is to phone about I'm afraid. We are lucky we are the only HA round here but get a contact list of local HA and phone round, Im afraid that is the best advice I can give!
