As soon as they're buying items to resell, they should be registered as a business
I understand that, but for all my effort as a business seller, I am no where near the vat limit and I am paying all the appropriate ebay seller fees. If a private seller is coming anywhere near the vat limit, they should be reported to hmrcYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever

They should be reported & hopefully eBay will do it for them, as all the data is provided to HMRC
eBay can see the turnover & should force them to upgrade & register correctly0 -

Ebay no longer seem to care about the unregistered business sellers. I've given up reporting them.
Interesingly, having trawled back several pages through the boards there are as expected a number of threads about the loss of 99p listings, but as someone has observed it appears that the majority of those moaning are business sellers. Apart from the one I mentioned already there are business sellers who are adamant that they do not have to register as such and pay tax due to several reasons, a couple are retired and say that are only trying to increase their pensions by buying to resell so of course they can't be a business, and the one I suspect will have been pulled by now who says that being disabled gives them the right to sell on ebay to make money to increase their benefits but it would be discrimination to expect them to declare it as such.
I am beginning to suspect that ebay had an ulterior motive for changing the rules on 'private' sellers and perhaps those that have continually said we should leave these wrongly registered people alone may come to regret that advice. Rather than act on reports of unregistered businesses, ebay have merely taken away their incentive to be so.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Blimey! Given the big money earners using tax avoidance schemes and people thinking like that it's a wonder this country has any money.
One seller is nearly having a apoplexy because apparently people. are all thick and stupid as everyone knows you don't need to register as a business until your turnover is £71,000.
I'd happily take a couple of months a year off if I could have a seventy grand turnover and not have to bother with tax and tax returns..0
