Has anyone used Phones2Pounds?

Hi,

I have a mobile phone to offload (Samsung S4) and can't be bothered to Ebay it (given the amount of fake Ebay bids for mobile phones) and so was going to use one of the sites which buy used phones having used one before. The one I've found that seems to have the best offer, by £12, is a site named Phones2Pounds. I've never heard of them though, which leaves me a bit hesitant to ship off a phone to them. Has anyone successfully used them before?

Many thanks,

Robert

Well they claim to be a limited company but dont appear to have a company number?

Website registered to an individual not the company.

Ahhh They changed their name FROM phones2pounds to PTOP limited.

Isnt that naughty using the old name still?

  • Wow, hardly confidence inspiring is it! Having followed up on that, it appears that the company on started in November last year, then changed name in Feb this year. Their website claims over a decade of experience, which I always feel is misleading as it's not the company but maybe only the people.

I think I might stick to RPC and just give up the £12. At least then I can have confidence I won't have to worry about it :) Thank you for your research!

Sold an I phone to them first they tried to knock 20 pounds of the price because it was locked to the net work we told them it was locked to after many emails they said they would pay the full amount. But now saying they have payed but ther is no money in our account don't touch them with a barge pole !!!
  • Definitely don't use them. For a tiny scratch on the edge of my phone (due to wear and tear from plugging the charger in) they deducted £20. There are lot of better phone recycling websites in comparison.

I was trialling them out before recycling the other phones in our company. Don't think I'll be using them again though.
  • Hello,

I have sent my iPhone 5 off to Phone2Pounds as there had the best trade in deal and the website looks like a big company.

I have received an email from them saying due to a "scratch" there have taken off £31 off from the original value. I was not happy and after many no response emails I soon accepted over the phone earlier this week after 3 weeks trying to speak to someone, but I have not received my money and they are not responding to my emails or picking up the phone.

Have I been Scammed? what can I do?

you sent a phone worth a couple of hundred quid into an unknown company without doing any research on them, because "the website looks like a big company" (?). keep perstering them, but more importantly learn from your mistake.

honestly, find a friend who is strapped for cash and give them the phone to sell for you next time.

never understood these websites. even if they behave as expected they are still shafting you. and they aren't really any more convenient than selling it any other way.

sod-it, send ME the phone and I'll rip you off. but at least i'll be up front and it'll be more like charity!
  • Yes I know I'm kicking myself, I even used mobilevaluer.com. I don't know why I did it but I'm scrap for cash.

Did anyone got any money from them or it is a complete scam?

I sent them my iPhone 5 on O2 without the charger which they quoted £101.

I sent it on 21st April. I chased them up on 7th May and was told that they hadn't received the handset and needed proof of postage.

    Having discovered the tracking number yesterday, I checked out the Royal Mail site to see that the iPhone was delivered promptly on the 23rd April. When I sent Phones2Pounds a link to see for themselves, within half an hour they magically had the phone in their possession, had managed to carry out some tests on it and the £101 was reduced to a ridiculous £40 because of;

"- Missing Sim tray. - Impact damage on the bezel. - Scuffs on the bezel. - Scratches on the screen and back. - Poor battery consumption"

    a) the SIM tray was in the phone, b) scuffs and scratches are to be expected on a used phone so should have been factored into the quote, and c) poor battery consumption is precisely what iPhones are known for and surely part of the refurb that these companies carry out before selling them on!

If I want the phone back to take it elsewhere, I have to pay an admin fee of £10. For what precisely is beyond me after I'm the one who's had to chase this down the whole way and they've sat on their !!!!!! since 23rd May, flatly denying ever having received the handset and then suddenly turning the process around in under an hour...

:T for your absolute balls to try this blatant rip-off trick out
    for your customer service!

Are scuffs and scratches expected? My HTC one M7 is over 2 years old and mark free.
