£400 sounds like a bargain if the rest of the car is still in good shape. Sure you'll find somebody to do it cheaper too. When I took our last KA in for it's MOT(1999 reg and I had it till 2011), the guy looked at me with large eyes and told me 'Sir, you are lucky to be alive'. Seems the frame was so badly corroded the car could have snapped in 2 at any time (or at least that's how it was brought to me). Was quoted £1200 just for the welding that needed doing. Shame reallly, they are fun little cars to drive and even today I still like the design of the origal KA.

I just PX my old one for £200. 51 plate.
I should have kept it but needed a new car really.

The garage thought it had only done 37,000 miles as that's what it read. Another garage thought it had had a clock reset at some point. Why is it so difficult to see that there are only 5 digits, so if it does over 99,000 miles, of course it will go back to the begining.

So yes, I traded in a 137,000 mile vehicle, which DIDN'T corrode near the fuel filler cap, but did a little near the back wiper. However the engine did carry on and would have for ages longer.

Bad bits were needing some suspension work, leaking power steering fluid and a few other bits but all in all, I was sad to see it go.

if it really is solid fix it.. its rare to see a KA that old with no rot..

the bulb is a dodgey earth the earth for the lamps is on the rear slam panal and can easily be knocked loose when putting things in the boot

prices qouted above are about right.. shouldnt cost £400 at a local indy
