All that it would prove is that the ticket was used but not who used it and it wouldn't give any extra help if the buyer opened a paypal dispute. All they require is proof of delivery and without this, the buyer would win the dispute even if it could be proven that the ticket was used for the event in question

But if I send it by special delivery I should be covered?

I did it with a small PC memory card and they posted me the cash and in return I sent the card. It was only £15- though.

This is only £25, but there isn't enough time for her to post me money and then me post the ticket.

Yes, SD covers tickets (and other valuables for loss) and with SD it's almost 100% guaranteed that a signature will be obtained on delivery.
However, Special delivery isn't cheap (minimum of £6.40) and if sending the ticket very close to the event date then you should really consider adding consequential loss insurance (another £2.28).
Without this, should the ticket get delayed then you would only receive a refund of the postal fee and you won't be able to claim for the value of the ticket as it would have been delivered even if it was too late to be of any use.

That link goes to the US paypal website and not the UK one.
There isn't such a limitation on the paypal.co.uk site.

Thanks Shaun, I learn something new every day :)

Ah. I thought there was a chance that it was a gig in the same city.

if the buyer is clued up & doesnt want to do a bank transfer or paypal then you can use a escrow service such as that provided by auctionchex.com
