Worried about tenants in house i am buying

I agree. I had my survey/mortgage with the Halifax too and it was done within a week. This was recently, although not in the SE.0

If the tenants are still living in the property, and you have no idea when they'll be moving out, I wouldn't even be getting (and paying for) a survey.
Tell the vendor you won't be spending any more money until the tenants have moved out.0 -
Ask the EA for the date that the s.21 expires. Until that date has passed and you have confirmed (by viewing) that the tenants have left -
Tell your solicitor to do no work.
Tell your lender to not arrange a survey.
Go look at other houses.
* get a new financial adviser - never use one connected to the EA who is employed by the seller
* remember the EA works for the seller, not you. Ignore his advice completely
* Get your own solicitor - never use one connected to the EA who is employed by the seller
* Don't waste your money on mortage application, Valuation, survey, legals, anything till the property is empty.0 -
I sold and purchased through the same EA so I am the seller too and as such they are making money form me as well so should treat me better. Looking at it from our vendors point of view they may be waiting to see if I get a mortgage first
before asking the tenants to leave. She may have done so already a point which is being clarified todayIf i knew the answers to all the questions i wouldn't be on here0 -
Expecting a buyer not to spend any money until a property is empty is a pipe dream.
Some of the posters in this thread need to wake up.
I would spend money once I was satisfied that the seller had all his ducks in a row in regards to him gaining possession via a Sec 21.
Not everyone is going to know the ins and outs, but by asking the right questions, it would be reasonably easy to ascertain whether a landlord will get his property back in "x" amount of time.Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.0 -
A vendor would be dreaming if they expected me to spend any money on a property with tenants. I would be even bother putting in an offer. The English system of buying and selling seems hellish enough without throwing tenants into the mix.0
-
I would only make an offer to buy with vacant possession and subject to finance being approved. I imagine that's what you want as well so do not complete until the tenants are gone.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.0 -
Mo husband decided to go ask the tenant if she had been given notice and just as I suspected she hasn't . Had I right go at the EA telling him I feel that they have taken this house onto the market, sold it to me without advising the vendor regarding the tenants. My mortgage offer is due next week and then I will be kicking their buttsIf i knew the answers to all the questions i wouldn't be on here0

Could take months or even years to get tenants out if they are not cooperative.0
-
Well I can't exchange until they are gone so if it looks like this will drag on I will walk awayIf i knew the answers to all the questions i wouldn't be on here0
