Will you stop selling on eBay?

I haven't sold much on ebay this past year. I need to declutter though, so with my brother we're thinking of going to an actual car boot sale.
I only usually sell items that are higher in price, selling something for 99p isn't worth the hassle to me, you get about 20p profit, if that!
Not forgetting the Percentage of your postage they now take.0 -
I have also stopped selling. getting to be a lot of hassle recently and have had a bad experience with a buyer claiming I was selling false goods (jewellery) - even though it was hallmarked etc. In the end, they had this verified by another jeweller but failed to apologise to me - neutral feedback given to me. You just cant please everyone!0

I have essentially cleared my loft and shed and sold on everything that I didn't need. Over time, I sell the occasional thing, but I'm selling nothing like I was 5 or 6 years ago.
At some point I'll stop altogether and I suspect that will happen when I have a couple of bad selling experiences in quick succession, which (because my overall number of transactions has reduced) will pull down the overall ratings to the point where it is impossible to sufficiently lift the average again."The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing.

I'm a business seller but fed up with ebay at the moment. The 180day PayPal claim if it comes in will be the last straw I think. I have already decided to restart the local markets again. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0

I am so glad to have my own site on the horizon. Actually, even in niche areas, it's become so flooded with sellers on eBay all under cutting one another by 1p, it's sometimes ridiculous to watch.
I'll give you an example. You spend ages trying to find the right bird sand that's got enough grit in it to sell in your eBay store. Someone else, (possibly some kid) starts selling Tesco play sand as bird grit and sets it 1p cheaper than your specially sourced one. All the buyers go there instead.
There might be a few false positives in their feedback, like "not really what I expected" but they get away with it and so the general quality on eBay is sucked downward.
There is even a guy on eBay selling critters you put in your bird feeder as fish food. (can you imagine feeding this stuff meant for wild birds to your very expensive exotic and yet sensitive tropical fish?)
And I can give you a million more examples, where seasoned sellers go into a penny war with someone who doesn't care, probably doesn't pay tax and definitely no insurance.
The future for eBay will be cheap tacky goods and knock offs... in the end.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Your statutory rights are not affected.0 -
I think postal price rises and markets trying to generate business could mean many of us follow that path. I've been moving into supply for the last few months but if was doing retail I'd start on markets rather than online, especially for larger products.I have already decided to restart the local markets again..0 -
Oh sweet Jesus. My buyer has just called to ask what buses come near my house, they are supposed to be collecting tomorrow. A 4ft square trampoline with enclosure.

having had nothing sell for ages I am planning on doing a car boot this summer.
And I swore I wouldn't - not after the last one.
But the 10% of the postal fees too - taking the mickey, that - especially as, if you apply the 10% buyers (what few there are) mark the stars down - and I know exactly which buyers did this as there's only ever one sale at a time1Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson
