Before I moved to private my NHS dentist had a chart of what was covered and where in the reception, including what bands it fell in...0 -
Personally I'd pay it. Consumer rights or not...I've got a fantastic NHS dentist which are rare as anything....I can just turn up, knowing it won't break the bank or I won't need £200 for a check up...
I've had a private dentist and tbh, the costs are eye watering for the service...so personally I'd be wanting to stay on the NHS books...
Also they do have banding in NHS dentists clearly displayed...with costs.
To muddy the waters....is it actually the dentist you owe? Not the NHS? With all the forms you fill out and the declarations, I'd have to check...I think you pay a charge towards your band, the dentist then claims the rest back. But it's an NHS contract/invoice you sign.
If he has made an error on the paperwork, but then your wife has also signed incorrect NHS funding documentation...then I don't know could she could face hassle from the NHS? To pay what she owes? Is it worth it for £30 odd really?0 -
If I was a dentist and I undercharged a customer 2 years ago I certainly wouldn't have the nerve to ask for it.0

If this "mistake" goes back 2 years why didn't the dentist say something when the Op went for their yearly check ups?0

this same thing happened to me, they charged the wrong band, when i went back a year later for next check up, they charged me the extra. I was annoyed but paid it.0

What I meant was "did the dentist state the charge before OP had treatment, and the OP agree?"
When I visit my dentist, I am never told the cost of the checkup, nor the hygienist, or X-ray until after treatment, but I was told the cost of a filling when I needed one doing when I booked the appointment. I have no problem with this as the charges rarely increase and when they do only by a few percent, and I don't want to change dentists.
Before anyone asks, I don't remember seeing a scale of charges posted in the reception area (although there may be one). I was recommended by a now former OH and have been going for 25 years and his charges are above NHS rates, so presume he's private or "semi-private".If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -

There's 3, I know them all & I'm not a Dentist (very easy to Google).0 -
I have no knowledge of HHS Dental Charge Bands, I'd suggest most people would only know of these bands if they have had lots of dental work. Everything is easy to Google.....0

Does that class as a lot of dental work?
You must read about dentists a lot then or know others who have had a lot of work.0
