Saturday/Sunday 17/18th May - What small DFW things will you do this weekend ?

Hello everyone, nice to see the thread has picked up. Beautiful weather today, which always makes the world seem a better place.
Today I've:
All meals from stores - lunch was a lovely mix of lots of things which needed eating today from the fridge, it was fab!
Walked to DD's swimming lesson.
No need to dry DD's hair with the hairdryer after her lesson.
Quick trip to aldi with a very small budget and came 64p over (remembered I needed cheese whilst there, otherwise I would've been under).
Had a lovely afternoon outside in the yard, had a go at setting up and filling the new paddling pool - it's quite big, so took a very long time to fill.
Took DD to a party, didn't partake in a brew from the vending machine. It finished at teatime, so no tea needed for DD.
Me and DH had chilli (leftover from yesterday), so just a case of reheating, no cooking at all.
I realised this morning that my summer wardrobe is non exisitant, so I've made a list of a few things I am going to need. Over the next few weeks, I will be looking around charity shops/eBay etc to get them at the best possible price. I know that spending on clothes isn't very MSE, but I really don't think I'll survive summer without some new things. And for me, it is better to plan and pick up bargains, then one day in July/august have a meltdown about not having anything to wear and then paying over the odds for something which isn't perfect, but will do, as I need it right now. Oh god, just typing that makes me realise I sometimes act like a toddler!
Not sure what's on the cards for tomorrow, DD has had a sniffly nose all day (I thought it may have been hay fever and gave her some piriton), but now she's got quite a temperature and is feeling very sorry for herself. So we were hoping to go and enjoy the sunshine as a family, but we may be stuck inside instead. If so, DH will probably go to work and I may try to get some items on eBay (this has been on my list since Easter).
In the time taken to type this, both DD and DH have nodded off, guess this means I'm in charge of the remote!SPC # 348 2014-£169.07/2015 - £156.89

Ok - I have to say - this thread works
. I had to sort the bills before I came on & reported in....
Karb - thanks for the PM offer - I might well take you up on that - but to be honest, I really think DH job is gone - it's the A*da way....
So, my weekend list
[STRIKE]Check banks & pay all outstanding bills[/STRIKE] Done
[STRIKE]Complete return for Mystery Shop done yesterday[/STRIKE] Done
Parcel up (well envelope really) pen refills to return to Amazon (wrong size)
[STRIKE]Go out to do shopping for week(with list) & get
diesel for week (makes life much easier Mon-Fri)[/STRIKE] Done
Set up super-duper spreadsheet to work out budget and spending available - we both need to know how much DH can afford to drop to wage wise - Copied a super-duper spreadsheet I found & now just need to populate it
Clean house using minimal products - Hoovered living room - does that count?
[STRIKE]Get washing all done today so it can dry on line
rather than clutter the house up with clothes horses[/STRIKE] - It rained so clothes horse it is
Have to visit friends who have moved into new house tomorrow & take cheap but pretty house warming pressie (am thinking candle but all suggestions welcome)
Stack 2 tons of logs in woodshed (delivered last week) - ah the joys of free exercise. - going to be busy today
So - as you can see - will be a busy afternoon - but the more I get done today & this week the more I can enjoy the upcoming Bank Holiday weekend.
Catch up later folks:DDebts 07/12/2021

[STRIKE]Banking[/STRIKE] All as it should be.
[STRIKE]Clear the washing basket[/STRIKE] First time I've seen the bottom of it in quite a while
[STRIKE]Dishes[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Make a large pot of bolognese sauce[/STRIKE]
Inventory the freezer
Meal plan using that inventory
[STRIKE]Buy meat for the freezer[/STRIKE] I've been foiled on that one - see below!
[STRIKE]Meet a friend for brunch[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Pop to Te$co for my tinned fruit (they are the only supermarket I know of whose value tinned fruit is in juice and not syrup; their peaches anyway!)[/STRIKE]
Put away yesterday's washing
I have instead added more washing to the pile
[STRIKE]Go for a walk in the sunshine[/STRIKE] Done
I fed the ducks too.
Return a dress to Debenhams I have plans for Sunday so that ones being sidelines until Monday
My plans to inventory the freezer failed yesterday so when Mr Mooo suggested a quick trip to Tesco for ice lollies I didn't think it would dent my plans too badly. His favourites were on offer and he bought five boxes :rotfl: There's now no room in there for any extra meat, so he's inadvertently helped me be very MSE by buying no more meat :rotfl:
I've had a lovely lie-in this morning and am just pootering about with some coffee. I'm going to make breakfast then finally get this meal plan done. Today is definitely slow-cooked "roast" chicken though

Hi Money savers,
Another glorious day in the Midlands. Haven't done too much on the MSE front today as have just been enjoying the weekend & not having workmen coming & going.
So, just a few bits:
*Did a few surveys till I got bored...which was very quickly!
*Got recruited via Toluna surveys for an online community project with The Money Advice Service, so got myself registered for that. It seems pretty interesting & there are decent prizes to win. Anyone else get that recruitment survey?
*Leftover chicken from last night's BBQ did some lovely filled rolls for lunch & I used basil seedling thinnings to make basil mayonnaise. Nomnom....
*mr f treated me at the local dairy farm ice-cream parlour.
*Tended veggie garden. 6 lettuces beaked to pieces by naughty destructive sparrows. Must buy some 99p Shop mini-poly-tunnels this week to nip that little bit of birdy vandalism in the bud.
*Planted up a hanging basket & 4 containers to go outside the front of our house once the skip has gone. Everything I used was grown from free seeds or was overwintered from last year.
*Decided not to do a roast dinner today as I reduced our grocery budget this month to compensate a little for Easter overspend, so mr f is making his fab cauliflower cheese & a bowl of jacket wedges.
*Cut off a pair of mr f's jeans because he was moaning that he hasn't got any shorts for gardening. He has now. Free ones, which took 3 mins with the scissors!
*mr f refurbed bathroom lights instead of buying new ones. He took them to bits & soaked plastic components in soda crystal solution & cleaned up the metal fittings with Stardrops on a soft cloth. Transformed!!
*Read yesterday's free Guardian (My Waitrose card)
*Read the Observer online instead of buying one.
*Finished another tiny sock (for selling) & cast on its pair.
*Will be checking the health of our 'Holiday Piggy' tonight to see if we can pay the balance on our Wiltshire holiday later this year, and also have a few nights camping for summer solstice next month. I reckon we can do it. I love the control of no longer slapping everything straight on a credit card or dipping further into the permanent overdraft, even though I sometimes feel as though my calculator has actually become an additional body part.
Right, I must go & put the courgettes & tomato plants to bed. have a nice evening everyone. New week tomorrow, new start, new opportunities.....let's really go for it & keep those pennies in our pockets.
Love f x2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever
2) To read 100 books (46/100) 3) The Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg

Mixed day today. Rants and tears involved. Think Sunday is my stress day (weekends taken up with dealing with debt - at work too bust to worry about it!).
Anyway, did manage to enjoy the sushine, post on here, etc.
Am turning laptop off!
Best wishes all x0 -

Thankfully DD woke up this morning feeling much better (although one nostril still thinks it's a tap!), so managed to get out for a lovely family day at the beach. So, today's list is pretty small:
NSD - day out was on DH including petrol ( which will mean I won't need to put any in for a couple of extra days, I hope)
Prepared lunches for tomorrow
Used some of the water from emptying paddling pool to use when changing water for our tadpoles (they are doing really well, still got the 7 we collected two weeks ago and they are getting bigger)
Checked postcode lottery
Oh dear, I think that really is it for today.SPC # 348 2014-£169.07/2015 - £156.89
