Morning peeps. I normally take a look at this thread but don't normally get involved but I'd had a productive day so far.

My new Santander 1-2-3 account is now open and good to go, so I went o Natwest this morning and closed my old accounts.

I also applied for a Barclaycard 0% BT card which I'm not convinced I'll get but if I do I will be able to shift and close two of my eye-watering interest rate cards. *Fingers crossed*

Need to make a couple of calls today to update a couple of direct debits and finish off my budget in YNAB in prep for payroll next week :D

Can I join? I read often & have posted once or twice but this week has been scary & I need order & self-management - so here I am.

DH found out last week he's one of the over 4,000 at risk in Mr A - & as he was off for 3 months last year getting a shiny new hip he reckons he'll be out of work by Julyish.....so here I am, making sure we can make ends meet....

    So this weekend

Check banks & pay all outstanding bills
Complete return for Mystery Shop done yesterday
Parcel up (well envelope really) pen refills to return to Amazon (wrong size)
Go out to do shopping for week(with list) & get diesel for week (makes life much easier Mon-Fri)
Set up super-duper spreadsheet to work out budget and spending available - we both need to know how much DH can afford to drop to wage wise
    Clean house using minimal products
Get washing all done today so it can dry on line rather than clutter the house up with clothes horses
Have to visit friends who have moved into new house tomorrow & take cheap but pretty house warming pressie (am thinking candle but all suggestions welcome)
Stack 2 tons of logs in woodshed (delivered last week) - ah the joys of free exercise.

That will be enough to start with as will need to spend time with DH tomorrow discussing all the wee things we will need to put in place before he's made redundant. I know it may not happen but he's a pessimist (already has us homeless ) but I believe in preparing for the worst and hoping for the best and any plans in place will give him peace of mind - he's already not sleeping.....

So - onwards & upwards... catch you later folks

Woop, just logged into TopCashBack to see if any of my planned spends have cashback available and found I have £20 in there from a successful claim I did a few months ago.

Sent the BACs and there's a few more pennies to put in the emergency jam jar :D

Afternoon all, and welcome to all the newbies.

ClootiesMum, I've actually been on notice of redundancy since December 2009! Since then I've just had lots of short term extensions to my notice period, as I've found work on various projects with different departments within the company. One day, my luck will run out, but if you would like to share concerns please feel free to pm me. I'm sure it would help me to find out what useful things you've discovered, and vice versa.

Having a day of trying to make the garden look slightly less like a bomb site. Two sacks filled this morning. I'll attempt the lawns later, once I've got the washing in.

    Today I have/will:

    - Long(ish) walk with the dog. Poor thing is getting quite old, so can't walk as far as she used to
    - Two loads of washing drying on the line. Laundry basket is actually empty for once (or at least it was til DSx3 were sent to tidy their room, It's now mysteriously half full again)
    - DSx3 took advantage of some McDonalds vouchers, saved something like £5 on my usual spend
    - Checked online banking. All as expected
    - Slight shuffle with some of my online payments
    - Updated spreadsheets
    - Dinner (or lunch for our southern readers) was leftover salad with a jacket potato and hard boiled egg, followed by yogurt, all of which would probably have been thrown away had I not used them today
    - Whoopsied pork joint out of the freezer ready for Sunday dinner - reduced from £10 to £4.

Think that's about it for now. Have a great weekend all.
Debt free since December 2015. It can be done

    Busy thread today :D

Afternoon Everyone - it's a bit grey here in sunny Scotland, disappointing after yesterday being so nice!

I'm a recent convert to the YNAB system and it's already helping me - last night I was hungry and usually I'd go straight for the takeaway menus but as I hadn't 'budgeted' for this I said no and went and made something from the freezer - £10 saved!

Also, Saturday is the day I usually put some bets on but again, no budget means no bets so again another £10 - £20 saved.

    My DFW actions today;

+ Checked my Noddle report - all as expected
+ Reviewed budget for coming month - I have a trip away and also OH bday so all other 'fun' money will be diverted to these - no takeaways/pub in the coming month
    + Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner from existing stores
+ Read MSE forums for support/motivation
+ Pack one box (moving house in 2 weeks so packing boxes a bit at a time in preparation)

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Keep going, you will get there!

[STRIKE]Banking[/STRIKE] All as it should be.
[STRIKE]Clear the washing basket[/STRIKE] First time I've seen the bottom of it in quite a while :o
    [STRIKE]Dishes[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Make a large pot of bolognese sauce[/STRIKE]
    Inventory the freezer
    Meal plan using that inventory
    Buy meat for the freezer
    [STRIKE]Meet a friend for brunch[/STRIKE]
Pop to Te$co for my tinned fruit (they are the only supermarket I know of whose value tinned fruit is in juice and not syrup; their peaches anyway!)
Put away yesterday's washing :oI have instead added today's washing to the pile :o
[STRIKE]Go for a walk in the sunshine[/STRIKE] Done :D I fed the ducks too.
Return a dress to Debenhams I have plans for tomorrow so that ones being sidelines until Monday

I'm getting there, just about! The meal plan will get done once I'm finished eating my bolognese :D

I can also add to this:
    • Received £4 L2S vouchers for my postal surveys
    • Finished watching available Adpoints videos
    • Had a nice nap after my walk :D
  • Hello all,

Very cross with OH for interrupting my session earlier. When I said "All done you can use laptop" he said "I don't want to use it I just want you to STOP using it and get on with some jobs". What a nerve! My top priority is to drag us out of debt - not to dust/vacuum/be a domestic godess!

Did tell him that - he sulked for a while but I think he's over it now.

    So today I have:

    - made all meals at home. Son 1 came home with free mushrooms, spuds and caulifower yesterday. We have eaten the spuds and cauli tonight with YS meat from last weekend.
    - sold 3 items on eBay and Music Magpied a bag of DVD's (£50 in the kitty for OD1).
    - started a post about our plan to pay off the debt, need to post an updated SOA (not sure if I saved it...)
    - 3 loads of laundry line dried
    - vacuumed, cooked, did 2 dog walks, tidied up paperwork stack and made sure all vouchers safely stashed and made a note of when they need to be used

Otherwise we have been enjoying the sunshine :)

    Best wishes all x
