How do you know when hoover bag needs emptying?!

My parents did this when I was a nipper. Not sure it's recommended though, wouldn't you lose the hepa filtration?
I've no idea what that is. Mine has neber lost suction, save for when a bit of concrete gets jammed in the hose. Gets kicked down the stairs, falls out the back of my van and always works.
If you read the manual, it says bags are optional.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
HEPA Filtration
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HEPA
I'm guessing that as the HEPA filtration is done within the bag, that not using one will result in a lot of the smaller particles being returned to the room/air.0 -
I use a re-usable bag for my Hetty, got it from ebay, money saving tip!
This one, been using it for 3 years so far with no problems: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Numatic-Henry-James-Charles-RE-Usable-Cloth-Vacuum-cleaner-Hoover-Bag-/191084657308?pt=UK_Vacuum_Cleaners&hash=item2c7d887a9c0 -
We don't have bagged cleaners, now, but the next to last, A Panasonic, had a plastic gripper into which you slid the folded open end of a bag, enabling the bag to be reused until it wore out.The next one didn't have this (so you bought more bags), but I retained the bar and cut the end off closed end bags.
The plastic strip was like the grippers you can buy for mounting posters.(one at top and one at bottom)0
