So put your name on the bill and you're not in any way liable should the original party default? Em .....

This has gone off subject from what the OP asked initially.

You will obviously be liable for that specific bill if it is in joint names (which was mentioned in my post if you read it). An unpaid water bill is going to be the least of the worries if you are MARRIED and considering the OP stated that THEY have applied for this loan.

It's actually not a good idea to have your name put on any account that it isn't already on. In so doing, you could just be making it easier for your husband's creditors to assume joint liability. If you think that's not a problem, it's worth bearing in mind that mistakes can happen; creditors have been known to chase the wrong people.

Our bills get paid, on time, every month so this really isn't a problem for me. We are already financially associated as we have a joint bank account and we have applied for this loan jointly. We share money, bills, and any debt. It's how our marriage works.

Good luck! If you get added to Council Tax, then you might be able to access the account online (I am able to access my invoice/statement online).

With the water, you might be able to register here http://www.mybillsonline.co.uk/ and access your bills online

Thank you! You've been a big help :)
