New build snag fixing - time off work - no compensation

Hi there,
Bought a new build house 6 months ago. Have had lots of minor snags as expected. We keep having to take time off of work or be interrupted while working from home for them to fix it. Has come to the point where we are getting them to come in for a week to get everything outstanding done. As we have had this ongoing for 6 months and cannot take more time off work, one of us now has to take unpaid leave for the week. Have spoken to the Customer Services department and they say it is not company policy to reimburse for earnings lost. We have asked for them to do it on weekends but they said work can only be done during normal working hours. Has anyone had experience of dealing with this? Developer is Bellway Thames Gateway.
Thanks
Sasha

If you pay me £3/hour cash in hand I'll housesit and deal with it.... just stick some Pepsi in the fridge for me and oven chips in the freezer and I'll be as happy as Larry.0

Part and parcel of buying a new build I'm afraid. They have 12 months to rectify all snags, no requirement to fit around your schedule. If you can work from home, surely that's a good compromise?0

Have been working from home once a week thats the most I am allowed. For the past 6 months almost every week I cannot effectively work because I get interrupted. And if I have any phone calls its too noisy. Now they say they will get it all done in hopefully a week but I cant work from home it would be too distracting and disruptive.0 -
Having snagging work done once a week for 6 months points to either significant issues with the house, or that you're being too fussy. Given the state of today's new builds, I would bet it's the former, but still sounds like a long, long list of things...0

but £3/hour, are you mad?0 -
Couldn't you just give them the keys to go in while you are at work? That's what I have done a number of times at my place and they are as good as gold.0

Well, they'd have to be local - and if I'm not doing anything else I might as well be sitting watching their telly and using their wifi and getting £20 + food/day than sitting here using mine where I've no oven chips...0 -
I have had my snags rectified when I've been on annual leave. Can't you use the same? I organise the date. Then phone the site manager 2 weeks before to confirm. Then the week before. Then the day before. Seems to work!0
