Virgin Media - Petition !

I am about to move into my new house which is in a cul-de-sac. Cable is available at the foot of the entrance to the cul-de-sac and provides houses along the route with cable broadband.

However, the cable does not feed the houses in the cul-de-sac and I was planning on organising a petition along with my neighbours to get Virgin to provide cable.

What do you think the likelihood is of Virgin reacting in a positive manner and providing us with cable broadband. They stand to potentially get another 12 customers.

Any advice is welcomed.

Thanks

You'll probably find that it was the builders responsibility ensure the services were available to all the houses in the cul-de-sac. I'm assuming they're all new build (ie. houses built after cable was installed in that area).

A petition to Virgin seems a little drastic, what have VM they done wrong? You may want to give em a call first and ask why you have no feed and what would be needed to obtain one.

The houses are 10 years old. From what I can gather, the cable was put in the main road after the houses were built and the only reason why they didn't put a feed into our close was because it is blockpaved and would create big problems for them.

They were also unable to put the ducts in the front lawned area of the gardens because of the potential wayleaves problem....

Surely, it would be in Virgin's interest to listen to us as this is guaranteed income for them !

Any ideas as to the best way to go on this matter ?

Have you actually contacted Virgin with a view of getting service?
If not how do you know they wont oblige.
IMHO however you can get more channels etc. for less with Sky.

Yes, but I can only get 0.5kbps on a BT line ! And that is on a LLU network ! hence the urgent requirement for cable broadband :D

why not get in touch with the local parish and see if a local wireless network could be set up and the cost of a 20meg connection be shared amongst all users.

Does anyone know the address of Virgin Media that would deal with this sort of thing ? Network Planning I presume ?
