Hi, I am on pension credit & qualify for a new boiler. Having contacted
British Gas, they sent surveyor from sub contractor who agreed all was ok for replacement. I was given a date for installation which was cancelled, the following date was also cancelled. Another date was booked but I got a call from British Gas to say that I would have to have another survey done as it wasn't straightforward exchange.This has been going on for months. Why are they messing me about? Is there something that they're not telling me? Are free boiler grants coming to an end? Your help would be appreciated.

Yes a lot of the funding has been reduced.

And yes, there have been many issues/delays for people applying for these grants.

Look at it this way: it's a freebie. Be patient. If in the end you get it, great. If not, well, you're no worse off than before.

As for the reasons, well, if they've found it is not a straight swop, then either you may have to contribute towards the upgrade, or they may not be able to do the swop at all. That's what the surveys are for
