Send a Faster Payment now for £1. Probably too late but worth a try.

If they charge you interest ring up and grovel and you'll get it back.

At least you've not blamed the card company. Many posters would have done!

    I have actually done that!
Will see what happens when the statement is generated and then give them a try.

There isn't an interest charge yet, as the statement hasn't been generated.

Having a statement generated isn't the same as incurring an interest charge!

Quick question - though I'll know the answer soon enough when my statement comes through.
I use my Debenhams Mastercard (was Santander, believe its now Newday) for all purchases throughout the month, and repay in full every month without fail. Balance is usually around £1.5k. Unfortunately, this month I've paid 1p short of the statement balance! Is this going to mean I'm going to pay interest on the full balance?

Why wait for the next statement ? Pay a small amount now. Then no further interest will be charged as you will have cleared the original balance.

But he still wont have cleared the full balance by the payment date, which is the key point.

It sounds like it's a pity you didn't ask the question yesterday, as you might have still sent the extra penny in time.

If you've added the £1 today, there may be a chance of asking later for a goodwill adjustment, but as they perhaps make a fair amount of their money from payments a day or two late I wouldn't count on it.

No, my minimum payment due date is 15th of the month, my statement date is the 19th. I always pay off the previous statement balance in full by the minimum payment due date. So, April statement was £941.01, I have paid, throughout the month, £941, the last payment being on the 13th. May's statement is due on the 19th. If I pay more now, am I still ok?

Going back to the post before that one, why not buffer the funds in your account and then use a full payment DD on whatever date they collect? In other words, rather than paying £941 in three separate instalments up to the 13th, why not keep all the money in your account and have them collect it in one go automatically (using their maths!)? Depending on which current account you're using, you might even gain some interest by doing that....

The statement is not showing as yet.
However, I contacted the provider by email and told them what had happened. They said that should there be interest on the statement, contact them again and they would remove it as a gesture of goodwill. Good customer service from the financial services industry - who would have thunk it! :D

Don't these cards offer a certain amount of interest free days on purchases anyway, providing the balance is always paid off?

Surely as it is paid off in full every month, then the interest is likely to be minimal, if any at all.

The interest charge was £16.87. :(
Fingers crossed that they remove it as previously promised.
