Booster seats

Booster seat hire is very expensive and jet2 say that child seats can be loaded in the luggage as special items.

Would I be able to put a booster seat into the hold and avoid paying booster seat prices?

Sorry if its a silky question but I can't see it being that easy to avoid the high costs.

Where are you going to and have you already bought car hire?

    There website says

Collapsible pushchairs/buggies or children's car seats up to a total maximum weight of 10kg (for both items) do not form part of the baggage allowance and may be carried free of charge on a limited release basis as checked luggage. If the combined weight is more than 10kgs excess baggage charges will apply. There must be an infant or child on the booking.

Any good? Or look at other car hire companies. I have one booked for Lanzarote and they offer car seats/booster FOC

Its Portugal and not booked yet. I rang them and they said the booster seat could be put in hold for free but it seemed too easy. That link also suggests its free.

I guess it's worth a try as if not I can just bin it at the airport for the sake of £5. I will have a look to see if some offer free.

    Thank you

You should be ok. If you are taking a buggy too, just weigh them both together and make sure they are under 10kg in total. Otherwise, will it fit in a case? Little one should have a case allwance anyway, if going on their holiday package, as 22kg included.

You will be ok, cant see a problem though, they are usually a good co.

There is a thought.... If the child is over2 they have a seat booked, can you use it onboard?

No buggy as over 5 and yes the case could be a back up as they weigh very little. Thank you

They do not stipulate how large a bag is to be put in the hold.

A booster seat would only weight 1 or 2 kilo's at most. They are made of polystyrene after all.

Find / borrow a larger suitcase and put it in there.

This is the problem with suitcases of old.

They give you a weight limit on bags in the hold, but in some of my suitcases the thing would only be half full and I would be on the limit weight wise...

Borrow a HUGE bag to put in the hold... put the booster seat in it then fill with clothes, you'll still have room to spare.

    Another alternative...

You can get a child's booster seat that doubles as a rucksack and fits within the dimensions for carry-on luggage

    Google for Trunki-BoostApak

We have just bought one as will be using it shortly on a holiday as we didn't want to pay for hold luggage

Bit too expensive for me but you given me the idea that if he takes his beaver backpack as hand luggage it can fit in there if they say no to the hold.
