a pair of warm gloves and socks to sleep in (gets very cold at night my fingers were freezing last time i went camping!) and an umbrella placed with your torch at the door for your midnight dash to the toilet block in the rain. baby wipes r a must for cleaning, they are very handy to wipe the odd plate down if you cant be bothered to go to washing up sinks and perfect for giving the groundsheet a quick wipeover where it gets muddy just inside the door. i also used babywipes alot to clean down my cooking stove and wipe over the table after mealtimes, try to get the unfragranced ones if poss.proper prior planning prevents !!!!!! poor performance!
Only when the last tree has died and the last river been poisoned and the last fish been caught will we realise we cannot eat moneyquote from an american indian.0 -
Gaffa tape (is that how you spell it?) Its a life saver if you break any poles or get any holes in your tent or groundsheet.0

Have to second the bucket (preferably with a lid). Or a raincoat. The first time we camped it rained so hard our tent was in a puddle in the morning and we had to move it. Guess who needed a wee in the night? Coming back from the loos in soaking wet PJs is not funny!
If you are like me, the mere thought that you can't go to the loo is enough to keep me up wanting to wee all night, lol.
Still had a great time though despite the mud.
Also don't forget matches if you have a gas stove.
And not being a 'true' camper I have been known to take a fan heater for last thing at night/early mornings (if you have electric hook up of course).0 -
Totally agree with the wee wee bucket. I used to nip around the back of the tent until one night in Cornwall when 2 girls on their way back to their tent at 2am tripped over me!!! Just returned from a lovely 2 week camping holiday in France - great weather, lovely location, very very cheap wine. I still can't believe how cheap holidays are when you camp.0
