What if I would like to keep the product though, do you think I am entitled to compensation for it not being as described?

you can send it back for a refund or decide to keep it. Unless a 18L pot was more expensive and the new description now has a cheaper price then I cannot see what compensation is due...do you have any quantifiable losses?
  • No quantifiable losses, except that I paid expecting one thing and got less than I thought I was paying for. Maybe I am being unreasonable, it just feels a bit like I had been cheated but I would still like to keep the pot.

They may reduce the price - especially if you point out that they'll be spending money for the return postage and also have lost the cost of the original postage.

Keep your request reasonable and they may just agree to it.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

If I were you I would ask them for the cost of returning it as a goowill gesture otherwise they will need to collect it. That way you get a little back and they are no worse off.

If £16 (plus p+p) was the price you paid then Hintza's suggestion above is reasonable.

I'm puzzled as to why you want to keep it when you bought it specifically because "I was looking for something with 15L capacity or larger", and that's not what you've got.

Because it was cheap and she can use it for other dishes?

My husband gave up asking why I needed yet another pan years ago, but he has greater cause to gripe as mine are, in the main, £100+ per pan.
  • Wilkinsons have now called me and have said there are apparently two pots on their website the same price but different sizes and mistakenly thought I purchased the other. They've agreed to refund me some of the price of the pot which I am happy with.
Thank you for helping me find the cached version of the web page that definitely helped as well as the advice.
