    True. Had a fight with an insurer years ago when pulled for no insurance.

    Turns out they had a digit wrong and tried to claim it was my fault. A request to review the audio revealed not only did i give them the right registration number but i also corrected the guy who typed it in wrong.

    Problem solved. No apology mind!

    Companies usually only record a sample of calls, to pick what the call centre 'cannon fodder' say to pieces and keep them on 'poor performance' so that they can get rid of them quickly if required for any other reason. I worked in call centre management for BT.

    There's no reason not to call their bluff, though.

    Where FCA/FSA/whoever-this-week compliance is an issue, they will record _every_ call...

    Where i work all calls are recorded and kept for at least 12 months...
