gift ideas for a 4 year old boy

I'm sure I ask this question every year!
Our son is 4 in a few weeks and I am at a loss once again as to what to get him. I always feel terrible as our daughter is easy peasy to buy for.
He has all manner of vehicles, animals, dinosaurs, trains and Lego. Loves it all! Jigsaws, crafty stuff he's got it all! he has a scooter and a bike (which he'd rather wash than attempt to pedal).Odd thing is that we don't spoil them at all, very kind people pass things onto us etc.
But when it's a birthday I like to get a special something to see his little face light up...but what?! He's equally happy with a single hot wheels car from poundland bless him.
It's lovely to have children who don't demand this that or the other but all he tells me is that he'd like a big toy. All his sister asked for at 4 was a pink cake for birthday and a chocolate one for Christmas (birthday is Xmas eve poor girl!)
We generally spend about £25 ish on a gift plus a few little gifts too which I don't think is outrageous, we usually have a family day out too.
Help!

A big water shooter? Maybe a paddling pool, that's big and also fun.0

Thinking about it nanny brought him a simple stomp rocket last year and they both enjoyed that! I didn't last long but I might look at an upgrade.
We have a gravelled garden but I might suggest a paddling pool to nanny to get for her garden as that's a fab idea! At home we have big tubs full of water instead as they don't pop on the stones lol.0 -

We did try a rug once...it got wet in the rain and then our delightful mogs took a shine to weeing on it...furry blighters!
Ohhhh giant connect 4 do you mean something like that? Sounds great.
We always have a family day out for birthdays, so it's just the gift I am fretting over. I'd rather spend money on a great fun day out together. But you've got to have a gift to open on your birthday morning when you are 4 surely?0 -
I used to have a shell shaped rigid paddling pool when mine were young. Would that be any good on your gravel?
Something like this.

An alternative to a paddling pool is a sand pit.0

The inflatable paddling pool (and pump!) is a godsend - on a tarp (also handy for dens etc) outside in summer, containing the Lego in winter.
A modest tarpaulin or basha sheet plus plenty of cord allows you to make a tent, sunshade, hideyhole almost anywhere you can tie up to & has the allure of the army. Try military surplus or a fishing shop?
Our lot have an arsenal of nerf guns. Load, aim, fire, collect up & start again. Hours of fun & course, parents play too (although being bigger targets is a bit frustrating)!
Hoping you have a lovely time shopping for him & that he has as much fun as you do!0
