House with downstairs bathroom

I've always had an upstairs bathroom and would never buy a house without one unless I was desperate to buy. I do not want to go downstairs to use the loo in the middle of the night or to have a shower in the morning.
same here.I'm proud of my advice, if others want to look I say enjoy the show!0 -
Having lived in a house with one for years - it's a mild annoyance if there's nothing upstairs in terms of having to trudge through the house in the middle of the night. Also a bit of an issue if you have guests staying and sleeping on the sofa in the lounge and you're having to troop through for a pee and disturb them.
If there was something like a shower room and toilet upstairs I think it's much less of an issue.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
It's inconvenient having to trek downstairs in the night, and f you are having a bath or shower it can also be more inconvenient having to go back upstairs to finish of drying your hair, etc.
Having grown up in a large family with only one bathroom, we also used generally to just wrap up in a towel and then do most of the drying and changing in the bedroom, rather than the bathroom, and if you're doing that , you are much less likely to encounter any visitors, or be seen from outside, if you are just crossing the landing than if you have to trek through the downstairs as well.
I'm also slightly prejuduced by the fact that most of the downstairs bathrooms I've used have been extensions which tend to have far to many outside walls, and much too little heating or insulation to be comfortable if you are wet and naked!
For families, if you have small children so are not able to lock the bathroom door then having the bathroom upstairs reduces the risk of accidental exposure to visitors , too !All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0
