Civil Enforcement Ltd (Northampton County Court Claim Form)

Hi all like a lot of people I ignored the PCN l got on December 24th 2012 and also ignored the other letters that followed. The ticket was issued in a co-operative car park time was 19.03 to 21.47. I was going for a family meal with my 89 year old mother in law it was raining heavily and the restaurant is next to the car park, I told my wife and other passengers to go and get seated, as I needed to do some shopping in the store which l did and have the bank statement to prove it. I have tried Parking Ticket Appeals but unfortunately they cannot help due to the issuing of the Claims Form. I have been on the phone to the cooperative customer care line who gave me a ref No I also emailed them to back up my phone call. I have also sent the acknowledgement slip away today.

Any father help would be appreciated.:)

You need to be dealing with this on a twin track basis:

    1. Acknowledging service of the court papers, asking for the additional 14 for the preparation of your defence and getting on with doing that.

    2. Pursuing the Co-op proactively - don't just sit and wait for them to contact you; escalate matters with them if you don't get satisfaction. There is plenty of evidence that the Co-op's strategy is to pay off CEL as cases arise. That's why CEL is chasing up semi-dormant claims like yours.

Do a search via the forum's search engine for 'Co-op CEL' and that should give you sufficient recent threads to help you see how others have (successfully) tackled this. There's also many threads on PePiPoo that you should also have a look at:

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Don't ring again - this isn't something to resolve over the phone. Write (snail mail) an assertive complaint to the Co-op (Managers' names in other threads).

'Parking panel' indeed! Ridiculous, no wonder the Co-op are languishing. Soooo many threads about this and all resolved.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
