Transferring data from one phone to another
Hi
I’ve got a Samsung Galaxy Nexus and have just upgraded to aSony Experia Ultra Z.
On my Samsung I use GoLauncher and have numerous apps andfolders which I’d like to replicate on the new Sony phone.
Is there any way of exporting all my settings and folders tothe new phone without manually downloading everything and setting it all uplong hand?
thanks

With the folders can you not just plug in your old phone to your computer and copy the folders you want across.
With Go Launcher you just need to copy the backup settings file across and then restore the settings. (been a while since i used go launcher though)
For apps and data etc, I use an app to backup and then send to my new phones, plenty out there.
You may be able to copy some stuff across using the Sony PC Companion software (been a while since i used it so not sure what it can do nowadays)“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0 -
there is an app which you can download onto both phones, and then this will transfer all the content from one to the other.
Or in the setting on my android phone, there is the option to 'transfer content from another phone' and then just follow the onscreen instructions.
Not sure if its on all androids..."talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish" - Euripides0 -

Thanks....maybe I wasn't clear regarding folders....I simply mean apps grouped together on my home screen - not folders in the traditional sense.
As for transferring GoLauncher settings......I thought about what you suggested before I posted but I'm not sure which folders contain the backups and none are suitably named to give me a clue.
I haven't installed the Sony software but I would have thought it would only have limited use since one phone is a Samsung although I've not looked at the program.

Not sure if its on all androids...
I found desktop migrate but it seems geared towards transferring from one launcher to another, rather than from one phone to another.
I can't find the setting you mentioned but will have another look

I have just installed go launcher on my phone to have another look at this.
I have backed up the settings of the launcher and they have gone into a folder on my phone called GoLauncherEx. I guess you could just copy that across and then restore settings. But to be fair it will probably be better to just set it up again. Maybe take screenshots of your different homescreens?“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0 -
Thanks all
ended up doing it long hand and starting from scratch but all done now.
Cheers!!
