London day trip, utterly lost on travel!

I'm trying to figure out London for a day trip for me and my 3 year old, if anyone can help!

We can get the train or coach, but unsure whether Victoria or Euston is the best 'start' point for the day.

I'd love to see the London Zoo, and maybe The Shard or the Eye. I have no idea at all of my way around and limited to bus really, due to pushchair. I do not want to bother with Tube really.

Is there any help out there? Any ideas for best things for his age? I have not done much in London, hence my ideas. My little one would love the Eye, I think!

Thanks!
Up and onwards to the future!

Tbh a 3yr old would be bored by the eye, its just looking at buildings from high up

London isnt really the first place that springs to mind as a day out for a 3yr old. Depending on where you are coming from, its tiring to travel around and boring sitting in a pushchair.

Yes, maybe a visit to london zoo, but even thats not that wow, if you already visit animal parks close to home. Most 3yr olds just want to run around and play and its not worth travelling to london just to visit a park and go on the swings
  • Don't waste your money on the 'Shard', there are better things to do with 25 quid. For example take a boat trip along the Thames to Greenwich or trip on the canal from Paddington through the centre of London Zoo to Camden Locks and back. The Science Museum is one for children of all ages.

My son used to like those moving "statues" along by the river near the Eye - that is all he thinks of with London. oh and Hamleys.

I have a 3 year old and go to London often. We don't think much of most of the science museum - the bit in the basement where kids can play and the bubble show is fun, but the rest I'd leave for a year or 2.

We did London zoo recently (Tesco vouchers - I wouldn't pay cash!). We were there before it opened and left when it closed and we hadn't done everything there was to do.

Toy dept at Harrods is far better than hamleys (and walking distance from the science museum).

Both Euston and Victoria are easy to travel around from. If you go on www.tfl.gov.uk you can plan your journeys. The tube is easy to get around using a pushchair (just avoid the rushhour times), but if you just want to use buses you can click the the travel options below the journey planner and click de-select everything but the bus travel option.

I think you can't beat the Natural History and Science museum for your son's age. They are beside each other and free entry. When my children were that age we visited often (they are teenagers now and still like them both). It is about 15-20 minutes walk from there to Kensington Gardens where you have the Diana Memorial Peter Pan playground and the Elfin oak which has mini figures in the old oak tree. I think your son may be a bit young to really enjoy either the London Eye or Shard.

I wouldn't waste money on London for a 3 year old. Go to your local park with a picnic on a nice day. Take a ball, have a kick about and take some bread to feed the ducks. London will cost you a fortune and your little one won't appreciate it.

Completely disagree. It doesn't have to cost a fortune, and my daughter has always loved going.

Euston to London Zoo would be about half an hour by bus. Check out https://www.tfl.gov.uk for details. London buses are actually fairly easy to negotiate because the stops have maps that tell you all the local routes so if you are on the wrong side of the road, you can find the right stop. Regents Park is lovely so take a picnic and and wander around there after you've done the zoo

    Visit Kew gardens,

That's a really long way from Euston (and Victoria, actually!).
