I didn't need to ask, its all very well issuing an LBA but that would take months to sort out when the op was told to go back on Saturday.A Letter Before Action would be the next step.

A lot of these phone shops do demand ID if you're paying in cash for a phone- last time I bought one I had to show them my passport before they would accept the cash. They just kept saying can you not pay by card and when I said no I don't have one the woman said 'Dont be stupid you must have one. Everyone has a debit card' I got increasingly narked until eventually I had to show them my cash card to prove I didn't have one. I said it was a stupid policy and they said it was to prevent fraud as card transactions 'couldn't be fraudulent' to which I laughed. Very loudly and said 'so what happens if someone comes in and buys an expensive phone with a stolen credit card?
