Correct. Smeg is all fur coat and no knickers. They are a triumph of design and marketing over build quality and functionality.
Go with Bosch/Siemens/Neff or AEG (Electrolux) or if you're loaded Miele (although I am not sure they actually manufacture their own ovens).
Miele make everything themselves that has a Miele badge with exception to built in microwaves with a side opening doors, their full surface induction hob and new downdraft extractor.
So all Miele ovens come from their factory and are actually far more advanced than any other make you care to think of.

I am in the process of buying a kitchen and I am looking at filling it with BSH products.
I have always been a Siemens man (I have their appliences in my current house and they have been brilliant).
I read somewhere that Their American fridge Freezers were made by another company, is that true?0 -

I don't know about ovens, but Miele refrigeration is made by Liebherr.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -

Common misconception. The factory in Germany that produces Liebherr and Miele refrigeration is jointly owned by both families.
The products themselves share a lot of technology and components but they are not exactly the same. And in fact the factory actually produces more products as Miele than Liebherr.0 -
Don't choose AEG we have one and its no where near as good as the really cheap Diplomat oven we had previously. Plus it was fixed and finally replaced under warranty. They are not worth the money.0
