    What version of windows?

In older versions it's best to do a restore in safemode.

    AVOID

RegSERVO is free to download but it is NOT free to use.
    It's a scam.

This could be caused by malware......Download and run Malwarebytes. Download and run CCleaner (Including the registry cleaner).
Try the restore again, using a different restore point if possible (further back).
Let us know if it helps.
What anti-virus do you have? Do a scan with that as well for good measure.

You might have missing or corrupt files try the following to see if there are any and if so it should repair them

    1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command
Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.

    2. Type the following command, and then press ENTER:
    sfc /scannow

The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.

Once complete try running your system restore again.

Thank you for your clear instructions.
I have done all the above and a pop up window appeared with this. The Instruction at oxooooooo6922DA55 referenced memory at oxoooooooo6922DA55 the required data was not placed into memory because of an I/O error status of oxoooo185.

I don't understand any of this. Do I need to take my laptop to a computer shop.

Based on you last sentence, I would suggest yes to taking it to a computer shop. I would avoid PC World for cost reasons.

The issue is probably related to a driver for a particular piece of hardware, we could spend all day giving you suggestions to run different commands but I think for your own sanity I would get it looked at directly.
