Scrapping car tomorrow, do i need to SORN?

Car has no tax or mot and scrap yard are coming to collect tomorrow (done through removemycar). Do I need to SORN it still?

As usual with DVLA you need to chase them up if you don't get confirmation (especially if your SORN runs out at the end of this month).

SORN don't run out anymore until the vehicle changes ownership or its put back on the road.

It's not sorn'd yet. Just to confirm, I do NOT have to sorn it when scrapping? Thanks

If scrapping a car you should ensure you get a cert of destruction off the scrap yard, their computer is linked to the dvla and informs them that the car is scrapped.

When did the tax expire? End of April? Further back? You should have SORNed it at the point the tax expired.

For the amount of hassle involved - two seconds on the website - I'd just SORN the thing now. You'll need your V5C handy to scrap it, anyway.
