Claim company fee

I have received a letter from halifax agreeing to a ppi claim my ex had put in through a claim company. I wasn't aware that he had contacted a company to register a claim.
He has now told me that we need to pay the claim company £600 each. I know that I'm lucky to of received the claim but had he of told me he was putting in the claim I would of done it on our behalf and not used a company. I didn't sign anything or even know about it. I have my doubts that he even thought I would of been sent the cheque direct.

You are not required to pay anything to the Claims Company, it is he who has signed a legally binding contract with the company. More fool him .
He is obviously expecting you to pay a share of the commission charged. You are under no obligation to.0 -
Thankyou that's what I was thinking.
When I asked him if he had put a claim in he didn't mention that it was through a company, then two days later he is telling me they will contact me for the charge I think they have asked him for the full amount and now he knows I'm getting half the ppi he has passed my details to claim company to cover half his bill!0 -

You can take your half from the lender and not worry about the claims company. They may huff and puff but you just need to reply saying you have never heard of them before and never employed them to do anything and unless they can produce a contract signed by you, you never want to hear from them again or you will consider it harassment and will take appropriate action.
They have a contract with the ex and he will have to pay the percentage against the full amount. Not just the amount he personally received.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). He signed the contract, he pays the bill IMO.
A court would be this way, too, so enjoy your money💙💛 💔0 -
Is this fee being deducted from the refund, or are you being asked to pay it upfront?I am a mortgage broker. The ex and the ambulance chaser can then fight it out between them.0 -
I was sent the letter on Friday from halifax informing me of the amount I was being offered and received the cheque Monday for that amount which is half of the ppi claim, other half going to my ex. The claim company is now apparently going to contact me asking for the fee. I didn't sign anything, wasn't even aware he was claiming. Would I of had to sign to give permission for the claim to go ahead? Just wondering whether he may of forged my signature?0

He may have, but you still have no obligation to pay the company because you didn't instruct them to complain.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
