    It sounds as if you've been speaking to an uninformed call centre operator, indicated by his lack of knowledge about data protection. However, if the Claims Company actually sends you a bill (I sincerely doubt they will) then you can proceed to contact Halifax and the Ministry Of Justice as before.

    Stop worrying and enjoy your unexpected windfall.

    Thankyou for your advice. There is no way I will be paying any fee and if I hear from them again I will take it further as suggested.
    Now all I have to do is think about how to spend it!!!

    I am guessing that the ex thought he would get the whole claim paid to him. I am also guessing that if that had happened he would not have told you about it despite the ppi being half yours and thereby keeping 100% of the rebate (educated guess as you weren't mentioned on the claim form and it was done as a single claim)
