Despite what the Apple, chromebook and linux enthusiasts might say, you're most likely to end up with a 15" laptop with Windows 8. Let's just say that's the default choice and to go any other route you need a good reason.
To choose which one to buy, you can only go by the spec, the price, the reputation of the brand and the opinions of users. You might like to check out this one:

The spec is good: i5 processor, plenty of memory and hard disk space, separate video card, which improves performance when playing games or watching hi def video. Asus is one of the better brands. The price is right and the reviews are good. The screen is standard 1366x768 but that's not a problem for photos unless you want to do professional-level editing.
If you want to spend a bit less, you might try this view of eBuyer which lists your choices with a lower-spec (i3) processor:

Unfortunately, eBuyer don't seem to sell one brand that might interest you - Lenovo. You might like to see what Amazon have:

The Asus looks good. Annoys me when these only come with 1 year warranty (irrespective of SOGA). Or perhaps ASUS do cheap warranty extensions? (yes I saw the square-trade warranty)0

Hi, thanks for all your responses, certainly have a few to look into. My laptop won't open the photos as it said it hasn't got enough memory and it constantly pops up saying no memory. My phone can't back up on it now.
I have defragged it and deleted non essentials and a friend of mine who works with computers tried a few bits and its a case of add more memory or get a new one and considering its quite ancient, I have opted to put money towards a new one. I won't be printing off the laptop as I order photos through snap fish and I am only doing it for myself and family.
I have a Nikon D3200 camera.
I would have gone for a desktop, but I have no room in my tiny house, though I am looking to move somewhere with a bit more room......0 -
Don't get a Chromebook. I'm using one right now, and I love it, but it's no use for serious photo editing. I haven't found a RAW converter for it yet. I would look for a used Macbook, let the first owner pay the massive premium!0

Stay well clear of Apple, this is supposed to be a 'money saving site'0 -
From an Amateur Photographer review
"The D3200's JPEG files range between 7.5MB and 15.5MB in size, opening up to 68.8MB in Photoshop, while raw files are 18.5-28.2MB and 137MB in Photoshop"
So don't skimp on RAM and invest in a reasonable amount of storage. Integrated graphics should be fine. Other than that I think it is read reviews to see what combination of processor speed and screen size/resolution/quality are available for your budget.0 -
is the disk full, how much ram is installed, what package is saying no memory, what format and size of file are you trying to open
post a hijackthis log, and free up some space with wiztree!!
