You might want to consider a decent filtered extraction unit on hire.

    .

Any more details on what to hire please?

Lackingwedge and Billett05 you do know that you can remover asbestos board yourself don't you ?

Providing you don't break the board all you need to do is double wrap them and arrange to dispose of them at your council tip. All you need is the correct PPE masks and disposable overalls and away you go, not a job for the fain hearted given but is a diy-able job and will save you some serious cash.

I think this is true for 'white' crysotile I.e. asbestos cement board (the corrugated roof kind) in small quantities. Our LA will take that but not artex or lino (with paper backing) even though they're the same type of fibre. However asbestos insulation boards (e.g. soffits and i think some wall boards are supposed to contain blue/Brown fibres and are only meant to be worked on by licensed contractors.

Haven't tried getting a quite for removing our soffits yet but hse guides mean enclosures, full pipe, extraction and wetting. Whereas removing our artex was a case of them carefully removing the plasterboard, damping and taping edges...most the cost was disposal. This was a licensed contractor and we got a consignment receipt.

To answer the original question, Wickes are almost always the cheapest place to buy plasterboard. They will price match less 10% of you find it anywhere cheaper....

managed to remove the Asbestos from my cellar on saturday.

Lined the whole room with plastic sheeting.
used PVA glue and a brush to dampen the area around the nail holes.

Removed the boarding and wrapped in the sheeting provided by the council.
Some boards broke unfortunately, but as I have sprayed the boards lightly with watered down PVA, there was little dust. Used the dust extractor on all the ceiling batons that were lined with the boarding.

Applied two coats of PVA to the batons.
Removed sheeting. Hoovered up with the dust extractor.

I left all the windows open for 24 hours afterwards as well as the cellar door.
Hoovered the cellar area again on Sunday.

As the house is not occupied, I would say a job well done.

I wore the fully protective PP3 mask. Disposable suit, protective eyewear, old trainers that i threw away afterwards.
