We tend to become more rusk averse as we get older

I agree - used to love them as a baby but not so keen now :rotfl:
Old dog but always delighted to learn new tricks!

£1500 is a bargain! I've just renewed my insurance - 20 year old male, license for 3 years, 2 years NCB, living near London, driving a 1.2 Seat Ibiza. About £900 for me and my Dad, and about £1300 to add my Fiancee on too (21 years old, license for 1 year). My first insurance policy had to wait until I was 19, and even then it was nearly £2500.
  • Something you also have to look at is any extras or limitations!

Some young driver insurance includes having a box fitted to monitor driving - which I think is great and I will come onto in a moment. However, some insurance limit mileage, hours of use, financial penalties for out of hours use, charge to remove box if you switch insurance companies, etc

My daughter went with Drive Like A Girl, which isn't just for girls! Box fitted but free to remove, no curfew on use or mileage limit, etc.

After 3 months she even got money back for driving sensibly! Was £1280, got £130 back!! Shocked.......

    Well worth a quote

It actually seems cheaper now than a year or two back. I did quotes back then and you were lucky to get it below £3000.

What's with the rush to get a car? when you're young you're used to catching buses to go everywhere, I was 22 before I passed my test and brought a car (hell I already had a mortgage before I brought my first car) and the bus services now days are much better than they were in the 80's when I was forced to use them.

We pay £800 for an 03 plate Citroen C3 1.4 for my 17 year old daughter learning. If she passes her test within 6 months the premium doubles, if she passes after 6 months it stays the same.

We've said we'll pay it for the first year (big ouch!!!!) and then it's up to her, and we'll help if we can. It is fully comp through Premium Choice with only her driving as I was keen for her to start to build up a NCB.
If you want proper advice, please consult a legal professional. I am not one! Thanks.

Putting yourselves down as additional drivers won't prevent her building up NCD and may well reduce the premium somewhat.
