Surely the point of an income fund is not to beat the market, but to provide a sustainable stream of income above that which could be gotten from a tracker?
Indeed, presumably the reason for the recent IMI Sector change for IPHI and IPI from UK Equity Income to UK All Companies

Personally, I think it could be worth a punt. Not a large one maybe, but a punt all the same.

Given that IP High Income was effectively a growth fund and has now been shifted out of the income UT sector I wonder where Woodford's fund will sit. Is it to be a growth or income fund?
Take my advice at your peril.

There is one person at least who is guaranteed to be laughing all the way to the bank after the big launch. He had worries over the size of his previous baby affecting the ability to maintain returns and the hype surrounding this venture will ensure it very quickly becomes one of the mega players among equity income funds

Income, target 4% yield. But he will not fight to keep it there if circumstances change.

"The man with the Midas touch".... "The best investor in Britain"

Such oft used tags in regard to Woodford are bound to lure in a large flock of sheep-like investors without an original thought in their heads.... including me;)!

Lacking the reserves of an IT, such a fight would be with one arm tied behind his back.
I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.

His previous funds income yield was taken from growth and not dividends. Do we know whether the new fund will sit in the equity income or growth sectors?
