Doesn't the clearway sign need to be on both sides of the street? One way and all. . .

I need to speak to you about our 'other' PCN. The complaint went to POPLA on 31/1/14 and I got the auto response (confirming they got it) but have heard nothing since. what is the best way of chasing this up?

email them and quote the popla code etc and they will email you back , probably with the decision seeing as its some time ago (my lad did this before xmas for a november decision and was emailed back the same day)

it must have been an appeal, not a complaint ! , so use the words popla appeal and verification number , not "complaint"

Bang to rights on this one I'm afraid Simon. That is of course unless you can post on pepipoo and they find a flaw on the ticket.

I would take this one on the chin. Even the blue badge does not let you park on a clearway.

    Cheers Kev
As you say i will have to take it on the chin. Just an annoying end to one of those days where everything seems to transpire against you. If we had got there earlier we would have had time to go around in a bif circle and go again, but didnt know the geography. I suppose what threw me was when i parked up there was a car just behind me also past the no stopping sign so i assumed it must be OK. They had gone when i returned so i guess if they were lucky enough to return before 14:40 they probably got away with it. Suppose i will have to stump up the £35.

However, I am curious to know whether there should be a sign on the other side of the road with it being a one way street, or whether the other side is also governed by the sign on the left hand side, or whether a missing sign gives me hope?

Don't really want a protracted argument for the sake of £35 from a council PCN. Like you say, take it on the chin, and learn from it.

It was a complaint on the grounds that the POPLA appeal decision was flawed in that it ignored EA legalities

It took POPLA 7 months to respond to a complaint from swellchaser on PePiPoo.

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Funnily enough I have found that question on a forum going back to 2012. Sheffield again

You may have a case for appeal here:

Where a road joins or crosses a clearway, a
commencement sign to diagram 642 should be
erected on each side of the carriageway of that
road to face traffic approaching the junction.

Which is why it was recommended way back in post #7 to raise this at Pepipoo ... they are much better suited to deal with Council penalty charges.
