Got a PCN from Sheffield city council on Saturday afternoon. Was an unfamiliar place and I was in a hurry to get to a wedding. venue car park was full so found a street where there were other cards parked. looked for any parking restrictions - couldn't see any. No yellow lines, No parking permits on any other cars, so I assumed would be OK. Returned 90 minutes later to find a PCN stating...
STOPPED WHERE PROHIBITED (ON A RED ROUTE OR CLEARWAY)
If I am in the wrong then I presume I will have to pay up, although I am unsure what I have done wrong. No other cars were ticketed, there were no yellow lines. (unless they had worn away). Am I too close to the junction - I have seen cars much closer to junctions ?
Would it have made any difference if my wife had remembered to take her blue badge (she changed handbags for the wedding and forgot to swap over!!!)

parked on the pavement for a start
what did you do beforehand!!

ie did you stop on a red route or clearway on the way there.
what does the street sign say on the road, what street is it
the other side would have been a better choice, no pavement mounting required!!

I don't know what a red route is. But it is a one way street and we simply drove up and parked where the car is in the photo. We left the car at about 1:50 pm and the PCN was issued at 14:40 (50 mins later) suggesting that any contravention related to the parking incident rather than anything beforehand?
I naively followed the parking practices of the cars on the same side of the road.0 -
The ticket wasn't issued for pavement parking so that's a red herring. Rsclark (hello again!) I would post about it on pepipoo here:

Do NOT post a new topic there without pic of both sides of the PCN itself. All small print (just cover your car reg/make/model and the PCN number ONLY).
Most people win on pepipoo, over 90% certainly.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I need to speak to you about our 'other' PCN. The complaint went to POPLA on 31/1/14 and I got the auto response (confirming they got it) but have heard nothing since. what is the best way of chasing this up?
Regarding this case, the penalty is £70 (reduced to £35 if paid within 14 days) I thought the general case was if it was a council PCN on public roads then it was hard to argue and easier to pay? Whilst £70 is a lot, £35 may be acceptable to make it go away0 -

Yep. If you look at the lampost behind your car the otherside of that 2 way one is the no stopping sign as posted above.
You were the only car to pass the sign and park.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Bang to rights on this one I'm afraid Simon. That is of course unless you can post on pepipoo and they find a flaw on the ticket.
I would take this one on the chin. Even the blue badge does not let you park on a clearway. We’ve had to remove your signature because your opinion differs from ours.
