Welcome Finance Help!

Hi,

I am considering sending off some queries regarding ppi to a few companies. One of the companies I know I had ppi with is Welcome. The 2 loans I had (one hp) were settled in Aug 2005. I have the account numbers for them.

I understand that Welcome aren't trading as they were before but I am not sure what this means in relation to how I go about claiming and if it will be now worth it because of this.

I have read the templates and will use those but I just wondered if anyone had any tips please?

Thanks.

On the FSA register it mentions that you can send your complaint to Cattles who acquired beneficial finance in 2013, check out both websites for addresses.

Sorry, meant to say Welcome finance is handled by Cattles not beneficial which belongs to HFC.

they weren't regulated before January 2005, so don't get your hopes up.

I know, but it's worth a try for the cost of a recorded delivery stamp!!

Out of interest, Can you pursue through scc if they decline for pre 2005?

Very few have had any success in court with PPI complaints. Potentially very expensive, this route is not recommended.

Thank you. Worth an ask! Out of interest - Is there a running theme/reason as to why they are not usually successful?

PPI is not a legal issue. It is one that the regulator has put in place. The requirements under the regulated complaints process are higher on the firm than a court would require.

If you take them to court, the onus is on you to prove that they broke the law. FCA guidelines are not laws. Plus, insurance was not regulated for sales until January 2005. Yours appear to be before this. So, you couldnt even suggest to the judge that he considers using FCA guidelines when they did not exist at the time (in the unlikely event he/she would).

So, what evidence do you have to show a breach of law by the seller that you would supply the court?
